This film is superb. This is one of the most enjoyable films ever made. It was recommended to me by a friend. It is well worth watching more than once, as you see new things every time. Most of us can't imagine what it must be like to lose the use of your body and still have to live in a world such as ours - to most of us, it seems like an unbearable and hopeless situation. The film received some criticism in the US, as Driss was viewed by some US reviewers as an Uncle Tom character. We first bought the DVD here in France so it had French subtitles but now we have this version with the English subtitles which makes it perfect. It has moved on since my day. Sorry but the American remake just didn't work, not if you know and love this version. 332. A 5/5 from me. This film - based on a true story - is an immensely touching and uplifting glimpse into the life of two incredibly brave men, whose lives could not have been more different but who found a common ground in the beauty and necessity of humour.
Not very often does a film provide such enjoyment. No spoilers, but the acting is superb, never maudlin as It could've been under Hollywood direction.

If you've seen the French thriller series "Spiral" you'll recognise a couple of the supporting players. Intouchables streaming VF et VOSTFR. Oddly enough, during a conversation with my partner recently we discovered that it is her favourite film as well, so we bought it to watch it together. "Untouchable" is the French set film and after watching the German set film "The Lives of Others" she was a bit worried. Philippe (François Cluzet) is an immensely wealthy quadriplegic who hires Driss (Omar Sy) as his live-in carer. A la suite d’un accident de parapente, Philippe, riche aristocrate, engage comme aide à domicile Driss, un jeune de banlieue tout juste sorti de prison… Bref la personne la moins adaptée pour le job. It is very much worth it. I have perhaps 200 films that I call keepers, mostly World cinema, this will join them.

(Note: The film is a French movie, but subtitles render it easy to follow. Great moments all throughout. )It's wonderful to experience such true friendship between so different people. All this emotion in one film - a journey and an experience just watching it. We have shown this film to friends and family and although a few of them said "No thanks, I don't watch subtitled films" we have left the film running and no one has walked away.
